Weekend Project Tips
I am determined to re-decorate my entire office in one weekend. Why the rush? These days I have limited time for my own home projects, plus I can’t survive too long without a computer. The room needs to be re-painted, re-organized, and I want all new furniture.
You can checkout my progress and photos in the Project Gallery and I will add my office decorating tips to this blog. Here are some of my ‘Before’ photos:

If you have limited time for your own home projects here are some recommendations:
- Plan ahead. I used the Ikea office planning guide (also available online) to help me with my layout and furniture planning decisions. You can also use regular graph paper.
- Visit no more than two paint stores to pick out your paint samples or chips - don’t take home too many colors or you’ll slow down your decision making ability!
- Do a small amount of research. Visit websites (Central Roost for starters!), read some articles, flip through some magazines. Don’t get too caught-up in the planning.
- If possible, buy furniture from only one or two locations. The more suppliers you have, the more coordination required and higher the delivery charges.
- If you really don’t feel like making all the decisions, hire an interior designer.
