White Kitchens
I love the clean, classic look of a white kitchen and I have noticed lately that a lot of people are chosing this design style. Before decorating with lots of white, particularly in a high traffic area like the kitchen, I would contemplate the following:
Pros
- You can easily see the dirt on the cabinets so they are easy to clean.
- It has a classic look that goes with most homes styles.
- A white kitchen is bright and makes the space feel larger.
Cons
- You can easily see the dirt, and sometimes even the best cleaning products won’t remove certain stains. White cabinets are high maintenance so be prepared for regular cleaning.
- If you don’t know how to decorate with other colors and materials then it can end up looking bland or boring.
- The wrong kind of lighting or too much light reflection can make the space overly bright or cold.
White kitchen design tips
- Use other textures and another color to give the space some depth and interest.
- Have a floor that is contrasting in color eg. dark harwood or slate.
- Add spice to the space with interesting acessories like a light fixture, a clock, artwork or a collection of plates, pottery or glass.
