Have you noticed lately how trendy decorating with sea shells, sponges and coral has become? Many of the home decor magazines (most recently on the cover of Style at Home’s April issue) have featured the Black Sea Fan or Black Fan Coral as elegant wall decor. The black fan coral looks simply spectacular with just a classic black frame and white mat.

After a bit of research, I discovered that for a fraction of the cost you could do this art project yourself. I have already purchased a large piece of this coral, so stay tuned for more information on this future art project! The other popular sea item is the white shell ball or ‘whirl ball‘, imported from the Philippines.

I recently broke down and bought one of these balls for my bathroom as I could not resist the funky texture of these beautiful, white shell ornaments. Here is a picture of my shell ball at home.
