What They Had

Two bathrooms, a small ensuite (5' 1.75" x 6' 4") with a small shower stall and a main bathroom (7' 4.5" x 6' 4") with an older bathtub.

What they wanted

Some of the goals they wanted to achieve with this renovation were:

How they did it

Inspired by magazines and their designer, they spent months researching and planning their project. They also engaged the help of an architect and general contractor along with various sub trades for the job.

<-- Before     <-- After

The two bathrooms were back to back so the entire space was gutted and the wall from the old main bath was moved to create a larger ensuite bathroom.

A skylight was added to the ceiling in the new ensuite, as well, a large soaker tub and custom cabinet and sink installed. A new bathroom window (there had been a small one in the ensuite, nothing in the old main) was also installed. The bathtub in the main bathroom was replaced with a custom-sized glass and tile shower stall.

The results

They ended up with two completely remodeled bathrooms with quality materials and craftmanship and a contemporary design. The new ensuite was increased in size to 7' 6" x 6' 4" and the new main bathroom was reduced to 5' x 6' 4". The project was on time and on budget.

Final commentary & advice

We love our new bathrooms and we definitely feel that we achieved our remodeling goals. We were fortunate to have excellent expertise and resources and there were no major disasters. We recommend that you do lots of advanced research and find a contractor who will deliver as promised.
